WILDLIFE PHOTO CONSULTANCY:
PORTFOLIO REVIEW & 1-2-1 COACHING
If you're an amateur trying to turn professional, a pro in need of help selecting your best work, achieving success in competitions or getting published, I can help you to grow as a photographer. I can also help with books and exhibitions.
Do you need help with any of the following?
★ Identifying how your work measures up against the industry standard? ★ Getting objective professional advice on your work? ★ Selecting your best photos to enter in competitions? ★ Identifying how you can improve your shots? ★ Developing a photo story to pitch to a publication? ★ Identifying the next steps in your career? ★ Reminding yourself why you loved photography in the first place? You need an expert review of your photography! Whether you're an amateur or a professional, with more than 20 years experience as a wildlife magazine editor and photo competition judge, I can provide constructive advice to help you grow as a photographer. How does it work? 1. I'll ask you to email me a selection of 15 single shots and/or images with a narrative (where appropriate). Make sure you pick a wide variety of your best shots to showcase your skills. 2. I will then spend at least one hour assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each image, with the technical assistance of World Press 2018 wildlife category winner and GDT 2014 European Wildlife Photographer of the Year Neil Aldridge. 3. I'll give you constructive feedback for one hour on each image, identify your personal strengths and suggest areas you can work on, either face-to-face or via Skype. 4. Each portfolio review takes a minimum of two hours, but if you'd like to discuss how you develop your portfolio, improve your chances of success in competitions or just plan some next steps, we can add extra time to our chat in half-hour increments. What do my clients say?
★ Ryan Green, UK/Botswana, says "My only regret about having a portfolio review with Sophie is not doing it sooner. With her vast experience of photography and publishing, she gave me invaluable insights into my work and opened my eyes to a variety of income streams I hadn’t thought of. Her observations on my images, coupled with suggestions about how to improve them, resulted in me reprocessing an old image and entering it into the National Geographic competition. I've just received an email saying the picture has been chosen as one of their best images of the week!" ★ Kyle Moore, UK, says "To any photographers thinking about a portfolio review with Sophie, I say 'DO IT!' I learned so much in such a short amount of time. Her experience judging images and knowledge of the wildlife photography industry is second to none. Sophie was extremely professional in her approach to critiquing my images, and her feedback has really helped me to identify areas of my photography to work on. She helped me to map out a path for my wildlife photography. Thanks Sophie!" ★ Susan Greeff, South Africa, says "Wow, what an amazing and insightful session. I really appreciate the thorough and information-packed feedback you provided on my portfolio. You gave me a clear idea what worked and didn’t work in each image and how I can improve it either in the field or in post production. I feel inspired to go and brush up on my skills in the field." ★ Philip Forsyth, UK, says "What a great experience my portfolio review with Sophie was. It was an incredibly useful opportunity to have an expert cast an objective eye over my work. The critique of my images was constructive and enabled me to see them from a fresh perspective. Sophie analysed the strengths of each image and advised what could be improved. We also had a fascinating discussion about my goals including how to get published. I honestly believe Sophie offers a unique service for photographers at all levels and, in addition to her expertise, offers a level of care and humour I really appreciated. I came away feeling inspired about my photography and will be recommending Sophie's portfolio review to my friends." ★ Andrea Schmidt, Germany, says "I had the best experience with Sophie – even better than expected. During my portfolio review, she opened my eyes to how I could be more creative and gave me useful insights into how to improve my photos. I had the review one day before a photography trip – and it changed my whole view and approach to taking images. I was able to think more about my photography, about angles, backgrounds and what new approaches I could adopt. The portfolio review was a unique experience and it was definitely my best decision ever to contact Sophie. She inspired me so much." |
