the wildlife trusts
The Wildlife Trusts have more than 800,000 members and each of the 47 Trusts is an independent charity. So the goal for this redesign was to ensure they were all communicating with one voice and a shared identity, and producing the same high quality of membership communications. Working with a designer, I produced a new magazine template based on the highest standards of magazine craft and a comprehensive user guide to getting the best from the new layouts. I provided quarterly features, covers and regular sections eg wildlife gardening for all Trusts to use if they wish from 2018–2020, and assisted the central office team to grow their skills to the point where they felt confident producing their own content using the magazine templates. I now work as Editor exclusively for London Wildlife Trust on Wild London magazine.
Each Wildlife Trust is the champion for its regional wildlife, so local content is key. Therefore I created an editorial vision and provided a complete magazine template to local teams to use, adapt and grow as they see fit. Crucially, I provided a comprehensive guide to the new-look editorial and design to empower teams to engage with, and use, it effectively.

I really look forward to reading the next issue – and it's not often that I can say that!”
